This franchise of IPL is owned by Deccan Chronicle, a famous media group. Deccan Chronicle bought the franchise for $107 million on January 24, 2008. The team has new sparkling-blue jerseys, replacing the beige-black colored ones it used in the inaugural season of 2008.
The team logo for 2008 season included a charging bull, the mascot for the chargers which signifies strength, power and aggression while the red and gold bands on the flag stand for dominance and victory. The team now has a new logo from 2009 season which is slightly different in font and the black and red color is replaced with midnight blue and silver.
Deccan Chargers In 2010 IPL Season
Deccan Chargers began their 2010 IPL campaign by losing to the Knight Riders in their first game. They immediately came back with straight three wins. But their performance took a severe setback and they lost their next five matches. Their chances of reaching to semis were slim but the team proved everyone wrong again. They won the next consecutive five matches to reach semi-finals where they lost to Chennai Super Kings.
Deccan Chargers looks very prepared for the fresh season of IPL 2011. Team is filled with new players but at the same they lost many of Indian core players like Rohit Sharma, RP Singh. Deccan Chargers will play fourteen matches in this season starting their first match with Rajasthan Royals on 9th April.
