The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is a cricket franchise that will represent the city of Hyderabad in the Indian Premier League 2013. This team replaces the Deccan Chargers and Kalanithi Maran of the Sun TV Network is the owner of this team. This team, whose former name was Deccan Chargers (DC), won the IPL in its 2009 season under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. SRH appointed David Warner as its captain and Tom Moody, a former coach of Sri Lanka cricket team will act as this newly formed team’s coach.

Deccan Chargers’ Performance in IPL 2008
In its first season of IPL, Deccan Chargers included performers like Adam Gilchrist, Andrew Symonds, Shahid Afridi, Scott Styris and Herschele Gibbs . But the inclusion of these star performers could not save the team from its failure to reach to the semi-finals. Its most expensive player Andrew Symonds performed just 3 innings. Its captain V.V.S. Laxman played only for 6 games on account of his injury. The team played most part of this tournament depending on bowlers like R.P. Singh, Pragyan Ojha and Shahid Afridi who took more than 4 wickets in this season. Due to its miserable performance, the team won only 2 matches, one against Mumbai Indians and the other against Chennai Super Kings. The team’s performance was placed at the bottom of the table.

After its poor performance in previous season, Adam Gilchrist took the responsibility as the team’s captain. Changes were made in the team’s administration and players’ list. This change yield good result for Deccan Chargers as it won the IPL trophy in 2009 season.
At the beginning of this season, its performance was good. Then it faced defeat in several matches in course of the tournament. Later, empowered by the performance of Andrew Symonds, Rohit Sharma and Adam Gilchrist, it proved its ability to win matches in this competitive tournament. Gilchrist’s commendable 85 runs off 35 balls in the semi-final level made it easy for it to defeat Delhi Daredevils. Its success in this particular match led them towards final against Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Chargers won the match by 6 runs and possessed the IPL trophy of 2009 season.
Deccan Chargers’ Performance in IPL 2010
In its first performance of this season, when Deccan Chargers played against Kolkata Knight Riders, it faced defeat. Then after winning the next three matches, it again went through a series of defeat in the next 5 matches. When Deccan lovers lost all hope regarding the team’s good form, the team again surprised its fans by winning next 5 consecutive matches and qualified for playoffs. As a result of facing defeat in both matches in play offs, the team earned 16 points on the table.
Deccan Chargers’ Performance in IPL 2011
This season of IPL, Deccan Chargers made significant changes by signing some of the well known foreign players. It lost the first two matches at the beginning of the season. After winning the next match, the team went through a series of defeat and was eliminated from the competition. The team regained its former glory by winning final three matches and its win ended the chance of other teams to play for qualifiers. In its home ground, it won against Royal Challengers Bangalore only. Due to sufficient number of international batsmen in its team, it delivered such miserable performance. Luckily in the away matches, Deccan Chargers achieved success against Delhi Daredevils, Mumbai Indians, Knight Riders, Pune Warriors and Kings XI Punjab. Ultimately at the end of the tournament, the team earned only 12 points.
Deccan Chargers’ Performance in IPL 2012
This season of IPL too witnessed several changes in the list of players of Deccan Chargers. The Chargers did not deliver any remarkable performance. Shikhar Dhawan, Steyn and Cameron White were acting as the dependable players for this team. Moreover, the team’s poor bowling and fielding technique put the team in a great difficulty. The team finished its performance in this tournament by earning only 9 points.
